Blue Beauty
« on: May 01, 2012, 08:21:47 AM »
Thought I would post some photos for those who are into the first gen thing. This rig was built a couple years ago and is no longer together.

Picked up this near mint condition rig and started cutting on it right away.

If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them for you.

The front spring hanger is fully boxed and protects the bottom of the radiator.

I think this was a 12" or 14" bob.

This is the rear end I built for my last Sami.

MEGA BEEF :muscles:

04 2RZ, trimmed the Taco fan to clear the lower radiator hose. The 22 re fan fit alot better.

Nice and parallel.

Negative, this rig didn't have one. These aren't drag cars. I prefer to use my ear and rev limiter so I can keep my eyes on whats important.  :driving:

If I were to add a tool for reading RPM I would get just a shift light. My peripheral vision could pick up on the light without scanning  :conf: for numbers all the time.

I routed the exhaust under the trans right behind the bell housing just like HogCanyonHopper did. I didn't want to put the efforts into moving all my plumbing (fuel/brake lines) to the other side.

Sweet build and rigs.. This should probably be sent in a pm.. But do you still have the grill off the blue pickup? Your semi local and I've been trying to find an 80's grill for the past 3 months lmao..

Thanks for the revisions on the sky mount, picked mine up last week. Pretty sweet stuff. I agree on the tach, these little motors are happy rev'd to the tilt anyways lol. I don't think I've ever looked at mine while wheeling but I'm hoping I can get it to work on mine just to have it there.

Thanks guys  :sly:

RCBRO, I'm all out. Every grill I get my hands on gets modified then broke. Got to buy a truck to get one now days. But, with a couple simple tabs/brackets and some .5" round tube or 1" flat stock, a guy could make one similar to the stock styles.

Yeah man these motors are fun!! I too was sold on the RZ when I was 15 (back in 99) when we put one in a 94 2WD toyota truck. That truck was way more fun to drive than the Hondas we were building at the time.

Do it  :yesnod:

The sway bar needs relocated to clear the rear sump pan. The cross-member needs to be lowered and the steering needs to be redone between the steering box and idler arm. Or pan mods instead. The exhaust routing is tight but well worth the efforts.

This is Tungsten Slayer's  97 2RZ in a 93 2WD.  So much fun it didn't take long for him to roll it. :biked:

He tells me close to 30. I put an RZ in a 83 2WD (no swaybar issues) for DD, I never did the math but $20 went a looong ways.
I did figure 24 mpg in the blue beauty from Eugene to Browns and back with the use of gps to track the miles. 5.29 and 36" Iroks
