I used to think like you until I went on the run for the first time. There are a lot of little hidden roads taking off from the main roads and some of them lead to granite slabs,boulders,even a big granite bowl. There are also good climbs on rutted dirt trails. The run is worth going to at least once to see for yourself,many have been going for years(some for decades). And no, I don't have any pics.
