Heavy Duty T-case Springs

Ever since I went to dual cases I've had a problem with my rear transfer case shifter popping out of gear.  When I am in 4LO the 2WD-4WD shift rail will pop into 2WD which locks up the shifter and renders me unable to shift out of 4LO.  I then have to pull the shifter and manually move the shift rails inside the T-case back into position with a large screw driver and re-install the shifter.  It's very annoying.  I finally got fed up and called up Marlin Crawler.  They sent me three new heavy duty springs to replace the 20 year old stock springs in the T-case.  Installation was fairly easy, I didn't have to pull the T-cases.  In the picture you can see the shiney new heavy duty springs, the old springs, and the tools required (a 6MM ball end allen wrench and a telescoping magnet).

I can really feel the difference in the shifters with the new springs installed.  The shifters are much tighter and harder to move, which is a good thing.  I'll report back after my next trail ride to let you know if the springs fixed my problem or not.  I have a feeling they will.

I haven't got the twin stick yet.  Furthermore, I have to pull the T-cases to install the twin stick so I will probably do that after the crushers trip.

Oh man,,I thought you would be all stoked to have that installed for the crusher trip..

I had that problem but it was the boots that would make my shifters pop out.

Mine is a different problem not caused by the boot.  The problem is when the rear case is in 4WD, the right side shift rail is moving backwards, into the 2WD position.  Then when I pull the shifter back into the 4HI position the shift rail keys are not lined up so the shifter won't mesh with the right side shift rail and it gets jammed into the 4HI position.  Then I have to pull the shifter out and slide the right side rail forward with a large screwdriver to get it back into 2WD.  Very annoying!

Anyways, I installed the new Heavy Duty springs and wheeled all day Saturday.  The new springs did make a huge difference.  as a matter of fact, I didn't ave to pull the shfter once.  But it did still get jammed once so I don't think my problem is 100% fixed.  I must have done something wrong when I assembled the rear T-case.  I guess I'll call Marlin and see if he has any ideas.
