bending the tin........

OK guys for years I've seen you people post up your pics of bent tin.      Little dents, a few scratches on the paint...   I've have to say it was ok...just not that impressive if you ask me..

  If your going to bend some tin you've got to do it right..

No just jacked-knifed and had the tractor between the trailer, and the cable guard rail. Cables were between the cab and frame so every thing was prying on and twisting the cab. Tow guys had to put Alcohol in the trailer air lines to get the ice out to make the brakes work when they towed the trailer away. I didn't have a spike for the trailer brakes( A spike is a lever that applies the trailer brakes only) so I couldn't drag the trailer brakes, which would have helped to keep the trailer from pushing me sideways. Of course with the ice in the air lines, the spike would have not applied the brakes anyways.

The whole crash happened at less the 30-40 Kilometer an hour. I sat in the cab and turning off the motor( so no fuel was being pumped), the lights( so no power could make a spark) and just folded my arms on my lap and waited for it to stop sliding along the cables.

  A mist of fuel over a hot turbo or exhaust does.   Misting fuel lights up real easy..even with a spark.

auto ing. temp on diesel is 600*f.

so get it to say 580 and let it find a spark.  that said it's not nerly as bad as gas.

The exhaust system on a truck runs in the 800 to 1180/1200F degree range would that work?    I would have to say  YES, even if the fuel is just spraying or running over it.

 
 An oil furnace just sprays the heating oil( Diesel) in a mist and lights it with a spark.  It's a hot spark, but no hotter then a battery shorting out could produce.

So a truck can get lite up real easy in a crash.  Don't forget diesel and jet fuel are in the same family.   Jet fuel is  NOT Aviation gas by the way, that stuff is for piston driven aircraft.
