locking the front diff.

Would putting a spool in the front diff affect steering in 2wd?? or just when its in 4wd??

you would only notice it in 4wd.  unless you have drive flanges and don't have manual locking hubs up front.

on the road, you won't be able to steer it, off road in loose dirt/sand, it won't be bad but on rocks or any hard ground it's a beast to steer.  if you have hydro assist it will make it a lot easier.  if your looking for cheap and strong, i would weld it.  but if it's going to be something you might drive on the road to the snow or somewhere where your going to need 4wd on the road, it's a really bad idea.

im welded front and arb rear in my D/D and it does great on and off road.. and the hydro helps alot..
