I have a 85 runner and would like to install a front hy-pinion.  What years am I looking at and what should I look for?
Thanks in advance.

Any FJ80 from 1990-1997.  Some had electric front lockers, others were just open diffs.  If you get an open diff, any standard V6 locker (detroit, arb, etc...) will work.  If you want to run a lockright or a ez-locker or an aussie locker, you'll need to find a V6 rear diff carrier and install the locker in that, then drop it in the hy-pinion housing

The one that I am using is from an 1982 HJ75, Toyota has a commercial only department as well. The HJ series p/u's are for mining and off-road use. You can usually find them here in Canada pretty cheap used. Approx. $3000.00 complete truck. I am sure there is something similar in the States.
