Looks like you're gonna have some fun!
How much did you pick the wrecked tacoma up for?

Copart is unlike any auction site. There is a preliminarily bidding, then on certain days according to the local yard, there is an online live auction though a java program. when the car comes up, you can bid up the amount you choose. For every 1000 in bidding, you need to have a 100 deposit before the auction. Program only let you bit to a 1000 before you need the deposit and it wont let you go over till you've give the money. I got my truck for 950, but fees and junk passed to 1200. Free to sign up and search away.

Made some progress. i have the trans and cases together all clean. Im going to swap the bell housing from the w59 to my w56 for the time being. When the w56 craps, i plan to swap back to the stronger w59 and stop being cheap for a marlin adapter :turtlehead: and run the w59 with my dual cases the correct way. Hes what what ive got. At the moment, its 5 degrees out and my garage is frozen shut. so im forced to work in the loving room

What do you thing about using a clear coat of some sort to keep the cool aluminum look. anybody some experience doing something similar???

Setup looks nice... Idk if clear coat will fix anything.  It will still be under your truck and exposed to dirt and oil...  But clear coat might help wash it off...

If it were me I would just take it to the car wash every now and again and wash it off really good.  Especially after a wheeling trip.

Anyways, hopefully somebody else has some actual experience.

FROR kit came in and i finally made some time. I got one side together only to  found out that i had the knuckles backwards. It was so easy to swap everything from one side to the other.
Heres a pick of one side finished after i swapped sides.

And the unit hub in the middle swapping side.

Im missing a few washers and nuts, but tomorrow i should have my the front axle done for now.

Looks sick so far.. I like the clear coat idea. I think it would help from the aluminum staining

Did you get the wheel studs from fror too? Don't happen to have a PN# do you? Forgot to pick those up when I got my kit.

I got the wheel studs from Rick auto. Cheapest with shipping I could find them any where.
DORMAN Part # 610312 Serrated Stud; Thread; M12-1.5; Knurl Dia.: 14.17mm; Length: 44.5mm; Shoulder Length: 12.5mm
$1.04
So far so good, but I haven't gotten a wheel fully mounted to verify everything. I think these are gonna be plenty long enough to cover the 1/4 extra of rotor that were trying to make up for.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. With a little research those look to be about 3/10" longer than stock, so they should work. I had to look up the length of a stock stud and compare though since I don't have one to look at. I know fror says theirs are 9/16" longer than stock, but that seems a bit overkill imo.

Anyway, sorry for the hijack. Builds looking good

Squeezing in time to work on the truck between buying a house and my wedding if tough. But i got some chit done.
I had to pull the windshield because it was leaking and there was a half inch of window sealer in between the flange. Found some rust, cleaned it up and used professional window sealer to reinstall.

I also got the dash almost fully in. I attached the dash to the dash bar and cut off the stock mounts on the back of hte dash. From there i placed them in the cab to get placement of where the dash bar would go. I modified the ends and added some flat stock to get the abr mounted up to the stock hole on the side of the cab. Once i had the dash bar in place, i had to support he rear of the dash. I used 1/8" flat stock, bent ot the correct angle, and welded a neu to the back. I drilled the dash for m6 bolt to come through in a symetrical pattern. Bolted up the tabs to the dash and tack wlded them to the firewall.

I also positioned the motor and trans where i wanted them. With the 2" body lift, i was able to almost get a flat belly. After mating the two, i used a bunch of ratchet straps on the engine and tcase to keep things where i want them while i mocked up the mounts. Used the old cardboard trick to make a template, and cut the mounts out of some 1/4 plate. Attached and tacked in. I re purposed the stock motor mounts with some welded in 4xInnovation sleeves and bushings. Motor is moved back almost 1.5" back from the old 22r.

Made a 2" body kit out of 2" round aluminum stock. I used some 1/4 thick by 2.5" wide washers in between the cab and aluminum for more surface area. there is a small washer in the middle to center up the big washer around the bolt. Also box tacked in position. Clears by a long shot.

Any body know the best way to get a bunch of dirt out of the frame? In the back, i can poke my finger through a vent hole and feel like an inch of dirt.

might be the angle of the pic but it looks like you need to push your steering box further forward, might bind
