« on: Dec 14, 2011, 10:49:04 AM »
Hay everybody, after doing don measuring I found I need around 3/4 of an inch axle shim/wedge. My question being how many degrees is that equal to? 6, 8, 10, 12? Any help would be awesome. Thanks

i really think yer best bet is to get an angle finder gauge. you can get one from harbor freight for under $5.

I have my angle set where its supposed to be. The hard part are the axle shims due to the way I had to set my springs. The front of the leaf sets higher than the rear by a bit. That's why I was curious what 3/4 of an inch would be on the wedges. Like a 4 degree shim is is 1/4 or somthing in that vecinity

Get a smart level.  Put your axle back the way it was, get a reading off the spring pad, then put it the way you want, do it again and get the difference.  Most will allow you to zero your reference point and it will tell you exact degrees

my guess would be about 8*  but when doing the weld in shims you'll need to grind the welds off your knuckle balls set them back to factory angle and then weld them back.  this way your tie rod doesnt try to sleep with your springs

When I rotated my front housing I did the pads too.  If your gonna get the welder out, save a buck and don't buy the shims, keep the factory feel and rotate everything !.
