I carry a glock 20.
GLocks shoot every time, and can take abuse.
The 10mm is more powerful then any other auto loader short of a 50 desert eagle. Its got more power then a 357 too.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

I like any variation of the 1911. Might be heavy but its a top dog. Plus its a .45. I dont know too many people that wanna get up after havin a .45 slug ran through them.

13+1, best fit and balance I've found in a handgun other than the 1911s (I've got some big ol' bear paws).

And, like the glocks, takes a beating and just keeps going.

after alot of deciding I chose the glock 23 40, 13+1
small enough to conseal
fairly light weight
and feels perfect for me
still packs a punch, hollow points and its golden

jimbo74

looks like you are in california.... don't get caught concealing it, or having 14 rounds, or possessing hollow points

never said I conseal it, said it is small enough to be consealable
never said I have 13 rd mags, thats what it can hold in the grip
never said I have hollow points, said they would make it golden

Hollow points are perfectly legal in California. Depending on the county you can also get CCW permits. Yolo for example has never issued a CCW though.

I haven't shot a lot of pistols.

I have shot glocks, xd 40's, 1911's, hk usp, etc.
I like them all and would be happy with any of them.
What can i say though..

x2.  i got mine in kern county almost 5 years ago now.  i carry a Glock 23, .40cal.  small enough to conceal, large enough to control, reliable every time.  used others in the past, xd, sig, taurus, and nothing has been more reliable than my glock.

If a bullet goes through someone it is not doing its job as effectively as it should be.

Anyway the answer to the question depends on the situation.

Daily I carry a Ruger LCP because it is the perfect size for a pocket and doesnt get in the way while working like a larger gun in a holster does.

Home defense I have a SIG 226 .40 with a light in the night stand next to the LCP.

Best built, some of the custom 1911's being put out are absolute works of art.

If I could only have one hand gun for all situations it would be the Glock 19.

All the big name manufacturers are making great guns, to bad I cant get most of them.

NO FUD man..

I have a concealed permit in Ca.. I also have MANY many magzines that hold over 10 rounds and are perfectly legal, And don't tell every sporting good store in ca to stop selling hollow point bullets.. I would be sad

Back to the OP question..  I am a Big glock fan, I own many pistols but if I only could take one and had to depend on it I would take one of them,  My secong place would be a ruger SP101 revolver..

Many folks say they don't like the feel of them but they fit me perfect.

I don't know which is best, The 1911 is my favorite but the H&K is a close second. I prefer revolvers, Hehehe....

Why wouldn't they?  A bullet is a bullet is a bullet  :headscratch:  Walmart sells the once controversial blacktallons, though they long ago stopped calling them that.

Not every time.  While I agree that they can take some major abuse I've had a problem with Glock 17's shooting WWII German surplus 9mm ammo.  Apparently the primer needs to be hit harder than modern 9mm because my Browning high power and my p38 shoot it fine.  Since the glock doesn't have a hammer I guess it doesn't strike as hard.

That being said,  I keep my Glock 17 (with modern ammo) and a 1911 loaded and ready to shoot at home.  I carry a Sig p230 on me outside the house because it's easier to conseal.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

They will shoot every time with new factory ammo, in the sense of using it for defending yourself. That means no idiot in the world would carry surplus WW2 ammo for defense.
