I have a 2wd 03 chevy 1500 ext cab on 35's with 4.88s and a detroit in the rear. Built a 4L65e for it almost 2 years ago, and over this last weekend I lost pressure on the hub and lost 3rd and 4th.  Have to build it back up again.  I just want to see what your guys opinion is on this.  I really want a 4x4, and this has been a great truck.  should i build it up as a 4x trans with a np241, and sas the truck, or should i build it back up as a 2wd and get rid of it to get a megacab cummins later down the road when i can afford it?  opinions?  if I sas'd it, it would be a 10 bolt front.  no need for a d60.  its my daily driver and tow rig.  never goes off road.  snow trips would nice though in a 4wd.   :dunno:

i would sell it, get something economical, and buy and build a nice truck when you can afford it

i'm not really looking to build a truck.  only reason i would build this would be to make a 4x.  if i get another truck as a daily driver/tow rig, it's going to stay stock.  this truck has done me really good and I like it.  only reason why i'm thinking of keeping it.

Do the 2WD get better MPG than the 4WD?  If substantially I would keep it 2WD.  Also can you install the factory Chevy 4wd components like on Pre-Runner Tacos to 4WD IFS swaps?  Might be something to look into.

I would fix it for 2WD and get the truck you want in the future.

i changed my mind. with the money youll save by not doing anything to the 2wd, you will be able to buy a sweet mega cab. :twocents:

yea, think i'm going to leave it alone, build it back up as a 2wd tranny and hold on to it til i can afford to get a megacab.  thanks for the input
