CV driveshaft question

Was wondering what are the different options of rear cv driveshafts. From what I understand it's either an 85 or earlier because it has more angle than the other years or a first gen extra cab Tacoma it's got good angle too and not to get a new spicer unit from a driveshaft shop that they don't have enough angle and will break? Is all this true? What do you guys think.

If its the rear it wont matter if its a pre '85 or post '85 because the rear droop isnt as significant since the drive shaft is centered unlike the front. Many use an un-clearanced post '85 double cardan joint in the rear with good luck, as do i.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not sure so much for the droop but more so because the angle that the dual cases cause. Does it matter?

i run dual cases in a SINGLE cab and mine is ok.

a 85 or prior not clearanced has more than a ifs not clearance. If you cleanace both, im pretty sure the ifs will have MORE than the sa

What is the application for?

Don't waste your time with anything older than what 85'?  the small bolt hole style ones arn't as desireable.

I used an ifs cv and clearance it for my rear driveline and it runs perfect.  On the front i run non cv.
Both are awesome, and run with no vibrations.

It's on an 86 SAS 4runner I'm building and this just about all that is left to do. I was just seeing my options seeing as my cv was worn out and anything older would probably be just as bad. It's for my rear and its going to be my daily driver. My front has no cv just a long spline slip yoke

I know people with dual cases in their 4runners with no cv on the rear and there wasnt any complaints.  My boss told me i would want a cv on the rear after i went duals so thats what i did.  I made them, slapped them in and havent thought about them since.

Pick up an ifs front cv, probably the easiest to get ahold of in my opinion, get it clearanced and you should be good to go! :yesnod:
