Well its just everyone's own opinion. I just dont enjoy them,I think its a Boring drive.. But they are nice on roadtrips thats for sure.

I get bored driving rigs with all the crawler gears, lockers, lifts, big tires, etc, etc. I've had some of the best days wheeling when my rig was close to if not almost stock. Hell my 1st Samurai I bought it at an auction it was actually lowered so much that it hi-centered on the smog machine. I did lift it but the 1st run out it didn't have lockers and was still strong-arm steering. It was a blast. Can't think of one rig that I've had that I didn't wheel it almost close to stock, except for the Junkerai. I did build that one 1st before wheeling it. If you were to look at my builds over the years I didn't butcher one of them, most people wouldn't consider them trail worthy rigs until they watch them go, that's where the Ninja strikes. :gap:

Haha Yeah .. You need to post some of your builds on your profile so we can see them

Getting ready for a road trip to Quartzsite, AZ this Friday. Pruned, tuned and tomorrow a minor alteration, will be lifting it 2 inches. Going with my club for the RV show & swapmeet plus we'll be hitting up the Desert Bar a real hamburger and bar in the middle of nowhere in the desert. It's only open on the weekends, they have a live band too. There is also some fairly good trails in the area of the bar. I'll pretty much run it with only the added lift. I hope I don't get any rock rash.

Thanks, I put the rear shackles on tonight going to wait to put the fronts on until I get some new springs. I also found a cool way to eliminate my LSPV. I took the Assembly at the axle apart, removed the small rod reversed the mounting brackets and there is a permanent threaded nut directly above it. I needed to work the long rod above the exhaust pipe and then bolted it to the bottom of the cab. You do need to bend the long rod a little but that was it. Here's some pics of the new lift and the LSPV bypass.

Ok here's how I removed the LSPV was pretty straight forward and easy, don't know if you could do it this easy with a truck though....

This is how it sits fully loaded for camping so it is a little low in the back until I unload it, how do you like those cool shocks? I wonder how much it would sag out if I pulled the coils? I think that I'll take the coils off after this trip.

Did you know there is a jeep on your door? I hear if your not careful it can spread and your runner will start breaking down. I think the cure starts with a penicillin shot.

For those that own what is in the sticker they would be insulted that you called it a Jeep. Some of them may even want to throw down with you for that type of insult.

I will go get my eyes checked so it does not happen again. I apologize to all offended. :)

Camping was great even though I wasn't feeling well and Rocks For Brains hogged all the seat time, so I just snapped some pics, we also celebrated his 18th birthday on the 22nd. I'm running behind today due to being on vacation so I'll post a few pics later.

Just a little higher!! Well I finally got around to the frontend, added my shackles for a little more lift. I ran it through some articulation tests and was mildly impressed. I maxed out the shocks which means I might even get more travel with a new pair. No need to worry about the sway bar since I tossed that a week after I bought the truck. I took some pics but I had a major issue happen at work and needed to deal with that so I will try to post them tonight since I'm going home now.

I had to cut the old Shackles in two to get them off, I would imagine they were original oem 1985, never been taken off from the factory.

Ok here's some pics with the shackles on, got about 2 inches out of them and some decent travel. Nothing to write home about but it got me through most of the red routes at TDS except for those last hill climbs since I'm running street tires and no lockers.

I would imagine that these are the original springs, a little rear saggy and with only the shackles added. Not too bad for mostly stock.

Very nice 4runner.How does the Auto run in it ?  I had an 87 and horribly bad in it and it could go pass 70 on the freeway most of the times. Would have been great to put a 5 speed in it but decided to sell it.

I cruise at 75 mph @ 2800 rpm all day long on the freeway, my speedometer is about 5 mph slow due to the larger tires so the actual mph I got from my GPS. It is a 22re which means it has no power to start with but I'm not running big tires and have stock gearing in the diffs. On surface streets I turn the overdrive off for the quicker acceleration. The power is OK, nothing special, but it really makes me miss my turbo 4Runner which I could run at 90 mph, uphill, 35's, 4.88's with no sweat.

I also run in the super spectacular "Power Mode", that extra power really makes all the difference in the world. :gap:

Bet you know where I got that deal too, (4wp's) they tried to get me to get 9000's but 5000's have 10 way valving and I don't  have to either turn a knob by hand or have to run air lines. I put tie wraps on the shafts to check travel and I get real close to bottoming out but I got the long body shocks and have yet to move the bumpstops. Currently I only have an inch and a half of lift but soon will increase that by about four and a half for a total of five, then the bumpstops will be needed to stop reverse arch of the spings anyways.
