tryed searching can find this small answer. im gonna do the tacoma rotor and ifs hub swap to my 85 axle, when i order the 97 rotors are the 3.4l and 2.7 different in size, do i need to order 4cyl or v6 or are the the same size? thanks.

Should be the same. I used a 97 v6 4x4.

same here. you will need to turn the hubs down for the rotor to fit over them.

ok cool, im still on the hunt for a detroit-high pinion and money for longs lol then i will do the swap and that will be the last time i need to get into my axle for a while hopefully. (probly next spring) i hope to have everything aquired. any special tips when gringing down the hubs, how much  bigger do they need to be is a dremel enough or is there quit abit of material that needs to be removed?

As long as the rotors are from 96-04 and are for a 4x4 you will be good to go, engine doesn't matter.  For grinding the hubs down, a dremel won't cut it unless you want to be there forever, use an angle grinder as you need to remove about 1/4" if I remember right.  I chucked mine up in a lathe and turned them down that way.
