Been having carb troubles with my 87 pickup. I am wondering what you guys suggest. Do I rebuild carb myself, Send it off to be rebuilt, buy a new one? The rebuild kit from napa is $60. I have never rebuilt one before but am somewhat mechanically inclined so I THINK I can do it. to send it off and get it rebuilt is 299. A new carb (holley) is $500.
Has anyone on here ever rebuilt theirs?
Just a noob looking for some advice!
Thanks Woody

I thought my 87 needed a new Carb.  Was going to go the Weber route since there are no smog checks here in timbuktu.  What I found through research is all I needed was an AAP diaphragm.  I bought it on line from NAPA.  I Berryman the carb with spray and put some in tank for a few tank fulls and it runs like new.  145,000 miles and it sits quite a bit.

I installed the weber and havent looked back. Need to find right jets for MN vs NV. As it seems to be running pretty rich. Just turned 200000 on the old girl, and STILL would hop in and drive it to nv if needed. I love my truck......

I rebuild motorcycle carburetors all the time but, I had no clue when it came to the Aisen 2bbl so I had it rebuilt in Burbank and my truck runs great now.
Mud, dirt, grime and sludge had jam clogged the carb into an extremely rich condition and the rebuild took care of business so my Cali Yota could still pass smog.
fasterspider, now older and slower.
