Okay I'll bite; What's wrong with the trail gear kit, other then being a competitors product?

I do not know anything about links but I have friends that have set them up and know quite a bit. They told me the calculations are not right as far as the way they are set up. Listen to Taco-Runner, he builds some nice link setups from what I have seen and heard.

I don't have any real tech on why it's bad. But I will say that I have helped install one before and it's not that bad but pretty pricey for what you get, and the truck drove like crap after. Like OOPS said I have also heard the numbers are goofy.

To the op, what makes you want to do a 3 link in the rear rather than 4 link? Don't want to move the gas tank?

Why are you barely up the ramp and have to have someone holding you up with a winch o.O  by that it looks to me like it doesnt work that great lol

Dont bother with the trail gear link kits. Their geometry sucks serrious hardcore wang ESPECIALLY the 4 link kit.

To any and all.

If flex is how you measure the quality of your suspension, then you are only acccounting for one attribute of many.  There is more to a quality suspension than just simple flex. Us rock crawlers starting using the 3link design because it doesn't bind. i.e. if you put a johnny joint at each end of every link you will have little to zero bind in the suspension. Regardless of how poor the design is. Its not hard. But there is much more to it than that for over all performance.

Truth right there. I never realized this until I started messing with mine.  Something that "flexes great" might drive like crap and do funny stuff in real wheeling situations.

I wouldn't say better, I would go with more common.

A lifted vehicle needs some triangulation of the lower links.  Toyotas have narrow axles, wide frames and a gas tank in the way. Pretty much impossible to triangulate. So, ditch the tank and then triangulate the lowers and it wont matter which link type you have. How ever, I've noticed its easier to mount coils and coilovers with out a panhard running across the back of the axle, shocks and such typicaly hang off the back.
