tcases running hot?
« on: Aug 19, 2011, 10:25:27 PM »
I have dual cases in my 90 Runner with a 3.0. v6 adapter with Stock front, 4.7 in rear with 30 spline outputs.

It seems to me that I am getting way to much heat out of them. The shifter handles get pretty warm and alot of heat through the floor. I'm running synthetic oil and a 5spd trans.

Is this normal, or do I have a problem?

what is "hot" per say? cause mine are hot but hot is actually normal, you should be able to grab and hold the shifter without burning yourself

i say if its fine after 20-30 miles it should be good. my buddies were runnin hot on him but they didnt seem a whole lot hotter than mine which have been fine for over a year now. anyways his siezed up on him in about 15 miles he forgot a c clip  that goes on the front of the crawl box kind of a costly little mistake.

could just be the heat from the engine and the hot air the radiator fan is pushing around

My set up always seems to be hot, especially in the summer. Been holding strong for 13 yrs so I just deal with it.
