Snappy come back!

My mom (76) gets stuck for...being old, mostly knee pain. She's been about 3 or 4 times over a 3 month span and swears by it. The practitioner is a complete naturopathist...herbs and stuff for pain. The last person in the world I would have ever expected to try that kind of treatment is my mom, but she is convinced.

Let the part time Hippie share his experiences.

I had a few injuries that simply were not going away with western medicines.

Slipped disc in the lower back, causing all kinds of shooting pain down my left leg
Bulged disc in my neck, causing migraines and immense shoulder and neck pain.
Nerves in my left elbo, causing numbness and tingling of my left hand.

After two spinal injections with steroids in my lower back, causing too many side effects to list, without success i new I didn't want to try the same thing in my Neck.  I even talked to a spinal surgeon and decided that wasn't for me, the surgeon also thought my condition wasn't sever enough for surgery.  So I decided to check out eastern medicines, asked around and received a good recommendation from my Physiatrist.

I didn't believe it at first but decided what the heck.  He was really good and reviewed my xrays and all the notes from my medical dr. he took the western diagnosis and applied eastern techniques to my symptoms.   Acupuncture, acupressure, plum blossom, and some other techniques that i cannot remember the names of.  I went two to three times a week plus did exercises that he was giving for me to do. within a few weeks I noticed a difference and after about 6 months things were really good.   we stopped about 3 months ago and I still feel good.  No shooting pain in my leg or headaches.    every now and then i get a little twinge in my lower back so I do the stretches again.

I'm sure it's not for every body but I feel it is worth looking into.  Some of the techniques have been around for a few thousand years.

IMHO, in Western medicine there is soo much technology pointed at you but they always seem to miss the underlying problems.

For some reason  :gap: that reminds me of back home in Tennessee!

I think Western medicine is too focused on the symptom rather than the root cause. We don't get headaches from a lack of Excedrin...the headache is a symptom of the problem. The Chinese might not be much on fashion (a clever reference to the Mao jacket)...but they know food and medicine.

TENS unit -- Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

It's a small adjustable shock box you wear to alleviate pain. Never had one but I worked with a couple guys that used them, apparently with some success.

Good luck with your pain treatment.... hope you find something to give you relief!  :crossed:
