That are adapters made to mate a VW TDI from a modern Jetta/Beatle etc to a Toyota transmission. One that comes to mind is ACME Adapters. http://www.acmeadapters.com/index.php?sound=YMost of their stuff is for Suzuki applications but it is does it using Toyota transmissions and transfer cases.
I think the TDI's are only 1.8 or 1.9 litre as where the OM617's are 3.0.
4x4 labs has an adapter for the R and W series toyota transmissions. I would not waste time finding a toyota diesel engine. The mercedes are way easier to find in the US.
I've been looking more into the cummins diesel and I've read on ih8mud forums that a couple of guys a putting the b3.3 into land cruises. They can bolt to a few trans. Phoenix casting has a adapter to go from sae to gm and then you use advance adapters gm to Toyota adapter to use the Toyota trans. Do you guys thong the Toyota trans would hold up to the b3.3?
