trading in silver/gold for cash
« on: Aug 01, 2011, 09:21:07 PM »
no not the cash for gold :bull crap:

I have 8.5 pounds of silver coins that are just taking up space in my closet and was wondering if anyone has ever taken their coins in to a jewlery store and traded them in for cash

I should say i have about 205 silver 50 cent pieces and 44 silver quarters and 228 silver dimes and 1 nickle, wife works at a bank so we get the good stuff @ face value and we want to cash it in since times are getting tough.

I wouldnt take it to a jewelry store. You will obviously make money since you pay face for them but you could get much more if you sell them to a someone turning their cash into a silver investment. If you were closer to CO I would hook you up with a buddy of mine that buys thousands in silver and gold

I have a friend who buys/sells on eBay.  It's hit or miss, but he does well overall.  He's got a ton of coins, and has been collecting for 20+ years.

Go check out a coin store if there's one near you. They'll usually give you spot price for dimes, slightly more for quarters and then also spot for the half dollars. Just a thought

Spot is just the price per ounce, just the technical term I guess. I used to collect coins, and if you don't know what all you have in your coins I really think it'd be worth it to check at a coin store to see if there's anything special in there
