« on: Jun 29, 2011, 04:41:06 PM »
i have a customer with an 87 22re 4runner, it sat for years with the tank out- can someone confirm where the vent and return lines go near the tank, i think they are backwards, but the truck runs crappy either way

Dangit, I was just looking at this last night as I'm going through my efi swap...  I know that the carb and efi vent and returns are done the same way (at least for what I was looking at last night).  I think the vent is the line that is towards the front of the truck, and the return is the line towards the back.

if you have the lines crossed, the second the tank starts to pressure up, you'll have fuel coming out the bottom drain/overflow of the canister in the passenger side fender well.  it shouldn't effect performance though.

exactly what i was going to say, if he see's fuel dripping down the frame rail then it's backwards.

But it can, raw fuel is being sucked into the engine instead of vapors causing a rich condition. At least that is what happended on mine
