I'm going to be taking out my tranny soon to go duals and was going to get a new clutch while I'm at it. My question was should I go with the 1200 lb or 1800 lb clutch from Marlin? It is not a dd, but does get driven to the trails and for other things. I would get the 1600 lb clutch, but it isn't available now.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

David

Given the choice I'd go with the 1800 lb.
I have the 1600 lb and love it, really nice feel, would have gone with the 1800 lb but it was not available at the time.

Thanks for the info. I was leaning toward 1200, but I'm still not sure.

i have the 1800 semi-metallic in my DD and just bought the 1800 competition ceramic with a 35 lb LCE flywheel for my 85 runner! More clamping force is always better IMO :beerchug:

Thanks for the replies guys

I didn't look into it too much before posting, but it turns out I would have to upgrade my flywheel if I went with one of the 1800 lb + clutches :smack:. I'm just going to hold out until Marlin has the 1600 lb clutch back in stock and pick one up then.

35 pound LCE flywheel with a ceramic 1800 pound clutch? sounds good to me! the 1600 will hold up real nice!

i dont get why everyone wants to run a heavy clutch. its only a pain in the ass. hard to push in/hold it in certain situations. and as far as a ceramic.... we arent racing here. nothing but a pain in the ass to drive a ceramic clutch on a wheeler. your never gonna slip a new oem clutch unless you have tons of power. more pressure isnt always better.

I have the 1200 lb marlin clutch kit.  been in for 4 years now without a problem.  never once a slip.

Sometimes that is even a pain to push and hold (due to my back problems).  I wish i could find a clutch master upgrade.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at your build last night and you run a very similar setup as I'm going to (g series and duals).

you will be more than fine with a 1200 lb clutch...no need to go any bigger

I have the 2100  and I dont care for it, anyone who has driven mine hates it.

Thinking about ordering the 1200 before I out this transmission in

I have the 1600# and it doesn't feel any stiffer than the stock one did.

My 1600 feels the way a clutch should feel, it is not mushy like a stock one and not difficult to push and hold.

twistedtoy92

my 1800 isnt hard to push at all. I prefer more clamping force and I am used to the ceramic clutches since almost all the the big trucks I work on and tractors I used to drive day in and day out had ceramic clutches. So my runner is getting the ceramic, But everyone has their own opinion and preference.

I have an 1800lb ACT clutch and I love it! It's no harder to push than the stock one. I've had mine in for like 4yrs and I'm using it behind my new turbo motor and it still looks new. I am also running the bigger turbo flywheel.
