No bed, take leafs out of the rear?
« on: Jan 28, 2005, 10:11:56 AM »
So I took off my bed and hard mounted a tool box against the cab.
From what I've seen, with the rear so light, the stock spring pack will be too stiff.
Should I take a leaf or 2 out to bring it back to stock rate?
Or am I just :screwy:

Add more weight.  Why did you take your bed off anyway?

I took it off because I'll be building a custom flat bed to work with my tool box. However, that wont happen for about another 6 months.

You'll be okay if you flatbed it..........Are they stock springs?.If so,I think you'd be okay regardless,if they're lift springs,I guess it would depend on how old they are,and how they've settled......Just my :twocents: .

Stock springs, 20 years old, flat as hell.

I drove with rocky when he had taken his bed off, they were not stock springs but when he was going down the freeway...the rear tires were almost bounceing off the ground.  Way to light, nothing holding the tires to the ground.  Of course rocky was hammering it on the bumpest part of the freeway.
