and these are some pics from my first real off roading outing. nothing too crazy, just some dirt roads and a few rocky hills but the difference was easily apparent... she did amazing and i made it up a few hills i'm pretty sure my old 1993 pickup couldn't have...








i finally got my offroader!  :wiggle:

Yota87Truck came up to visit and we went out four wheelin. i got some pics that i liked, and we went out to some places i'd been in Hubert and took pics of Beverly in some of the same places. makes me wish i hadn't sold my old truck, but at the same time i really like my solid front axle! they turned out pretty good i think.




Here's one of the twin shots, taken a year apart. the water was higher, and it's from a different angle but i was going off of memory...

Just had a stroke of genius... I've been thinking about new paint jobs for my 4runner and tonight i had an epiphany!!!! COW THEME!!!! we're gonna paint cow patches on it and make lots of puns with my last name ("Tipping")... Good idea, bad idea?

I'm not big on Cow paint schemes.  Could be done well but it still looks weird.  I like it mostly cause of the name pun.  But hopefully adding some white would improve the horrid paint job on their currently.

oh, and i recently shattered the back window... it was retarded on my part. i was trying to get the defrost hooked up and when i got it working i decided to try to shut the tailgate with the window still sticking up 3 inches... apparently that was enough, because i took what was left in my window home in a shoe box. but now that i'm in Utah with readily available scrap yards, i picked up a new tailgate complete with window... it's a little mismatched  :crazy: ...

well... here's an update then. I drove her all the way down to Colorado for the holiday's and she did great (besides the brakes)! and when i got here my parents "sponsored" me to fix it up a bit. So as long as i was doing the work, they'd pay for parts   :yesnod: ...

the result:

rear pads - $40
drum turning - $30
rear wheel cylinders - $25
e brake cable - $25
heater core - $40
front pads - $40
new rotors - $60
new studs - $24
new front brake line - $10
clutch master cylinder - $20
warn hubs - $220

so that was my Christmas present... now my 4runner stops faster that Oprah at a donut shop!!! my heater is still kind of weak though... here's some pics...



had some issue getting the drivers side rotor to seat right, but i eventually found out that the spindle was mounted on the wrong side of the dust shield... here's the link...


Heater core... tons of fun! I'm just glad i probably don't need to ever do that again!


found out my other hubs weren't disengaging all the way, so i had to get some new ones... i heard good things about warn hubs so thats what i got.


as she sits now... next up, hopefully a new paint job!!!!

Electric Fan Conversion complete... I'll let you know if i get amazing gas mileage and huge leaps in power output... But it was extremely simple. I got the fan and thermostat from autozone, all in all it was about $115... TorqFlo Fan and a thermostat relay of unknown origins. The thermostat has a metal rod connected with a wire that goes into one of the hoses. the wire is thin enough that it wont leak. that goes to the relay that triggers the fan at a certain temperature... right now it goes straight to the battery but i'm planning on routing the ground wire into the cab to hook up to an illuminated switch that will light up when the fan is running, so i'll know if it ever stops running...
