Beadlocks
« on: Jan 24, 2005, 08:24:49 PM »
I just recieved the newest coppy of petersons four wheel and off road and saw the new Staun beadlock system.  I would like to know what people think of them and if anyone knows where to get a set of them.  I will appreciate your replies.   :usa:

I like the idea of having both beads locked with the Staun's, if theres no issues with airing up/down the tire and they sound like theyre going to be $$$. Theres a thread on Pirate going right now 1 guy is running them and said he drove about a mile to get off the trail with a flat and the bead didnt slip at all on the rim.

For $200 EACH for staun locks Ill buy weldons for $80 a piece from bobby with free shipping anyday.  Those locks are pretty cool but all they are is a small tractor innertube in a sack.  Far cry from being worth the $$$ imo.

Only a cop that was into 4wheeling could tell the diff from street locks and bead locks seems to my idea.Even then I doubt he'd pull over a fellow 4wheeler.I know people that use beadlocks on the street as a d/d..never been asked by cops when stopped for other moving violations..I asked a sherriff about the law on beadlocks..Had no clue what I was talking about..

I like the idea they have the infatable bead lock, and having both beads locked, but wonder over time how they hold up over time and with larger vehicles and larger tires..from what I saw they used I think a jeep for testing....

The truck that peterson's was testing on was the ultimate avalanche with 42" Irocks, that is a hell of a lot more truck and tire than most of us run, i just can't beleive no one thought of this before, it is so simple it's stupid.  :hammer:

Hell yeah, $400 per wheel! :thud:  :smack: they've got to be freaking kidding! Even the stauns at 200 per wheel!
These kind of prices is why I haven't run any of them yet. Maybe when I'm rich someday  .
