Budget SAS parts list

I am finally getting the money together to do the SAS on my 87.  Maybe if enough good info is posted here I am hoping this may also be a resource for others too.

Can one of you experienced fellas give me a parts breakdown of what I need to do it as cheap as possible.  What parts I can find from an early truck to use and what is a fair price to pay for used parts.  Like axles, springs, driveshafts, steering.  And what I must buy new.

It should help keep cost down for now since I am running stock gears and 31s on my 87 and I have access to a welder and can fab some stuff myself if need be.

Tires have 70% tread so the 31s will be around for a while.  I figure I will lift it later, get gears and bigger rubber.  But the budget only allows 1 thing at a time.

Read $300 in the projects section from page 9 to about 13ish.  Thats about as cheap as you'll get.

Solid axle           $200
toy rear springs   $75
spring hangers and 37" of 2x5" box tube for drop box  mine ran about $70
jig and frame sleeve for shackle hanger or check out http://bentup.com/SASKits.html for shackle hanger Ideas with out any frame cutting. For the hangers cost of material if you make it  $30 at most
cross over steering $250 used
2 piece rear driveline will work realy good if you weld a cv to it, mine was the perfect length for a truck with out dual cases right about 30" long and you have the cv from the front already $75
FJ 60s and 62s have heavy duty tierods if you could score those at a yard and buy new rod ends from napa for 20 bucks each
MISC- paint, cutting and grinding wheels, grade 8 bolts $25
I think these are a little high but projects always cost more than you think, i'd say $750 with all the parts an metal is close

im gonna do a SAS for a buddy and im building most of the parts....
This kit includes

    * 4" Lift Leaf Springs
    * Front Hanger
    * Tubes
    * Jigs
    * Shackles
    * High Steer Crossover Steering
    * 2 Front Brake Lines
    * Front Flip Kit
    * 12" Bilstein Shocks
    * Shock hoops
    * Steering stabilizer
    * Wheel spacers
    * Vented rotors
    * Bumpstops
The parts that you really do need are:
Frame jigs and Tubes 40
High Steer Crossover Steering  395
2 front brake lines 60
You dont need wheel spacers
and you dont need bump stops

I am goin to build some Junkyard leaf springs which should cost about 50 bucks
I am buildind the drop hanger which will cost about 35 bucks in material
I am building the shackles which cost about 10 bucks in material
i am building the flip plates for ubolts which costed me nothing since im using scrap 3/8 plate
Misclaneous hardware from wholesale hardware supply should cost about 10 bucks
you can get some shocks that are long enough for about 25 bucks each.  that would cost you about 50 bucks
Run F-250 shock towers which cost about 27 bucks shipped
and you can find a front axle for about 200 bucks
For the steering box frame brace i have 1/4 inch plate that i got for free and with the help of a cutting torch and a drill press i can make the steering box brace.... the tubes should cost about 10 bucks
You can get ubolts from a spring shop for 5 bucks a piece times 4 so 20 bucks
to add it up it should be:

For a grand total of like 897 or something like that....
If i had the money i would Get the kit from Marlin crawler because Marlin makes awesome products and he gets 100% of my opinion
although i have more time than money i will build the stuff myself and buy only the stuff i need....Oh i forgot... you can make a square tube driveshaft for about 35 bucks....
