ok so i'm redoing the steering on my SASed 94 pickup. i need to move my box forward and also clock it, but to do so i need to extend the steering shaft. so how should i do this, only idea i've come up with is to cut it, extend it and sleeve it. i'm also trying to run a flat pitman arm and am having trouble placing the box in a good place with my TG mount. so any pics of people that have done that would be great.

Not sure how different the steering shafts are between 3gens and 4gens but I did this last month to my 84; check the last page or two of my (never-ending) build.

It could be as easy as drilling out some spot welds and sliding the two pieces apart... but don't quote me on that.  :lipsrsealed:

ya i had to do this on my 81 and it was just drilling out spot welds, but this one looks to be all one piece  :smack:

just heat it up with a torch and slide it apart.

and for the box, i had to move it as far forward as possible and tilt the top of the box towards the back of the truck a little. if the plaehangs below the frame you can just trim it off.

I was using rear springs in the front though so you might not need to move it as far.

I had that same problem with mine I relocated my box and moved my axle up another 2". Heating it didn't work and I was going to cut the rod and sleeve it but I used a spacer and longer bolts at the joint after the box.

I cut and sleeved mine. I had an extra one from a 2WD that was the same size and used the outer sleeve from that one. I also put a couple of rosette welds on each end.
