Right now i'm running a 4.3L - R151- dual cases with 4.7 gear in the second case.
What do i need to do to change my second case to 23 spline so i'm 23 all theway through?
Will i need to replace the 4.7's :stopit:

Isnt the R151 a 23 spline tranny?

so if i want to get 4.7 gears and be 23 spline all the way i should order the 23 spline 4.7 gearset for the rear case, and a 23 spline output for the front case?  i'm preparing to put my turbo tranny in and need to rip it apart anyway and put a 23 spline input into the front case anyway...

am i correct??

That sounds right. As long as the trans is 23 output and you get the 23 spline coupler for the dual adapter.

That's right.

Basically this is how it breaks down:

Transmission > 1st Crawler Input > Crawler Coupler > 2nd T/case Input.

So thats...

23 spline R151F > 23 spline Crawler Input > 23 spline Crawler Coupler > 23 spline Transfercase Input.

If I ever get some $$ and start up a rig, here is what I will do:

Marlin's Heavy Duty L-Series Transmission 21 spline > 4-Speed Transfercase 21 spline Crawler Input > 23 spline Crawler coupler > 23 spline 4.70 transfercase Input.

That would be the strongest setup behind a 21 spline trans.

Vova: How old is your gear set? I think we have a couple of those older gear sets somewhere on a shelf that we would exchange your 21 spline for a 23 spline input. I would have to check with Marlin to see if we have any. I know we have done this in the past for customers at no cost! Just as long as your gear is still in good shape. :)

My 4.7's are about a year or so old.  So if i trade you the 4.7's, i'll need to buy a 23 spline Crawler Coupler and 23 spline Transfercase Input?

Thanks

So if I have a 21 spline setup right now then I will need to also get a 23 spline 'coupler' for my actual adapter?

oh whoops.

Yeah, you must get a 23 spline coupler as well. Sorry about that.

I am not sure if we would do a direct swap on your setup. Just give Marlin a call and you guys can get it figured out - !

QuoteIsnt the R151 a 23 spline tranny?

That and the R150F (V6) 5spd trans are the only 23-spline trans.

The differences is that the R151F uses a 4.34:1 First gear as compared to a 3.83:1 First on the R150F and the R150F uses a different rear tail shaft housing that mates to a chain drive transfercase rather than a gear drive case.

FYI, The R transmissions are still used today and hold up exceptionally well behind full size V6 T100s and V6 Tacomas with TRD Superchargers!
