Flatbelly advice
« on: Mar 29, 2011, 09:41:16 PM »
Alright, when I originally started this truck I really had no idea what i was doing(not that I know anything now) I just threw the cases in as high as they would fit. But I have always hated the way they hang sooo low. So after my next moonrocks trip its time to start hacking sheet metal. It looks like the tcase has to go up 5 1/2 inches. So that would be messy with my current allpro setup. I only have 4 inches before my e-brake level hits the floor board.

What problems do you guys see here?

What im worried about:
Tons of wiring in the center console, rock lights, arb :pokinit:. Wiring is tight, I would hate to have a bunch of butt joins.
Stereo wiring
seats
fuel lines
cross member(dont want to buy a new one) but will hack it up to make it work

here is the current set-up, so lets here it.

I think the wiring is a headache that is gonna have to be tackled.  Van you possibly build a taller tranny tunnel (after lifting t-case) and keep everything as-is?  Your t-case is going to be all up in your cab,

Additionally, look into what your t-case cross member is selling for these days.

I'm about to flat belly mine and purchased the fror center chunk for $69 shipped.  I've got some steel tube/plate laying around that i'm going to make the rest of the mount for.  I can easily get $100 for a budbuilt dual case x-member....so, that's just something to think about.

Sorry i'm not much help, but just some food for thought.

I don't think you are going to get the results that you are looking for without having to redo some wiring. I know it sucks but what can you do. When i did mine i had to ditch the e break because it would hit and i couldn't go up as far as i wanted. Still haven't put it back in yet. I also had to cut my shifters because my elbow kept hitting it but that might have been just me. When i get home i can throw up some pics of what i have going on that might help you out.

I say, do whatever you have to do to get that belly flat.  I'm sure sirhc0306 can chime in, but my friends that have flat belly trucks say it's one of the top mods they've done...

I'm pumped and can't wait to tear into mine.

Here is mine, I modified a FROR and put some bushings to mount to the frame.

I built a new tunnel and modified my bench seat to still fit.  I don't think you would have any problems fitting your bucket seats.  It really does not look like you will have to change your wiring much either.  Maybe lengthen some wires?  That consul should just fit on top of the new tunnel.
