« on: Mar 13, 2011, 07:40:05 PM »
[/lef. Am installing an ifs box on my 81.I have read a lot.everyone seems to agree that mounting it as far forward as possible is the way to go.my question is can you go to far forward and what disadvanteges are there for going further than necasarry.I am about to cut into my radiator support but would like some advice before I get to happy with a cut off wheel.

The farther forward you move the box, the more you can move your front axle forward, so your tires don't rub in the rear fender well. Try to keep all your steering arms parallel and as high as you can, (or your pitman arm will drag on your spring). The larger tires (37 plus) you will need to cut the Core Support, or go with a lot of lift.

Thanks.I can mount it now with bars parallel.I was thinking I mite mount it further forward to keep the option open to move the axle further forward later if I want to.I have moved the axle forward already.I just may want to go more someday.I'm not sure if it will cause any driveabilty problems for now having the box to far forward.or added stress to the frame
