Does anyone have a good place to find one of these motors, no one around here has anything at all (car or motor).  :dunno:

FIREBALL

Where's here?
I know a guy who has a 5m sittin in his garage. I think it needs a head gasket. He'd probably sell it for 200 bucks. No wiring harness though.

Ebay.  Go into the parts cars section, not car parts, and look under toyota.  If I can figure out how to do it I'll attach a link or atleast the address.  There are always a couple of supras on there, and you're better off startin with the whole car so you can snag everything engine related.

Thanks Ill give it a try.  Yah, the more I have thought about it the whole car is the way I want to go.

Why not a 7M? Trying to stay away from EFI?

I see whole '85-1/2+ Supras for below $500 here in the midwest pretty regularly. They are usually rusty salt victims with 200k+ mile motors, but all of the ecu, harness, sensors, motor clutch and bellhousing are right there in one place. I'm going that route this summer. -- Matt

I thought a 5m was efi??  Coulda sworn every one I've seen had a throttle body attached to it,   Nate

Yes. I goofed. The 5/6 is EFI too.  I think the difference is displacement 2.8 vs 3.0 (5M vs. 7M) and 12 valves versus 24 valves. Why would you prefer the 5M over the 7M for a pickup swap? -- Matt

I would rather do the 7 but I thought the 5 would be cheaper to go with.

5's are easier to find,
