4:1 split case gears
« on: Mar 13, 2011, 05:12:29 PM »
that's right, these are finally going to be a reality after a long wait.......

AA is bringing out a 4:1 gear set for the split case. i saw the prototype set at their facility about 6 weeks ago and will have that exact set here at the shop by tuesday. i'll take some pics and will then install them in my DD to put some miles on them. right now they're only available for the bushing supported 38mm cases, but the 34mm set will be out in a couple of months. these will requires some machine work to create case clearance. retail is roughly $1550, i'm going to run an introductary special.

email me if you're interesed, for some reason i don't receive email notifications when sombody replies to my posts on here, same goes for pms. big dave!!!!!.....fix me up!     orangefj45@sbcglobal.net

i'll post up pics when i have the gears in hand.

i think it was on pirate or mud where i saw guys are accidently milling through the aluminum cases trying to get these gears to fit..  from what it sounds like there is next to no material left once the milling is done leaving the cases paper thin ..    i really was hoping that these were going to work out better but i feel unless they come up with a better solution to not weakening the outer case i am going to stand by..   toyota went to the split case because its a stronger design and that the last thing i want is to create a weak link where one wasnt before..

this could be a great option for people that want an option that doesnt involve changing driveshafts or modifying floor boards but i think for the extra hassle i would still go with a toybox..

that being said, i wonder if the toybox stuff is done and ready to sell again??
the never ending build...
