4.7L V8 Ford

A friend of my dad gave him a 4.7L V8 Ford w/less than 20K miles on it and I was thinkin' about puttin' it In my yoda.  Or  mabe a 350 chevy, What do you guys think

I haven't seen any adapters for them yet.  I guess you'd need to research bell patterns and take it from there, that should be the biggest road block.     Nate

I'd assume it's the same as any SB ford but I dunno

from what i've already looked up a 5.0 kit will work

Is it a 4.7 or 4.6?

what ever that comes in a 2004 crown vic it my be 4.6......as a matter of fact I beleave it is a 4.6  thanks for correcting me...my bad

No prob. I thought it was a 4.6 because the 4.6 is what my dad has in his 97 F150. I am pretty sure that the 5.0 bellhousing will work the same. Also kind of sure of that because I have a couple Ford Mustang buddies that have said something like that once before.

Well the more I think about it the more I'm kinda leaning toward a 350 chevy the parts should be easer 2 find and cheaper

the distributor in the back on the chevy is a pain but not a bad choice still

I think you gotta use the auto tranny that comes on the 4.7 to make it work.  UNless you can get a 4.7 that used a manual transmission from like australia or somewhere.

Well I given this a lot of thought and when I decide 2 replace my engine  BTW with 130K miles and runs fantastic it will B awhile this is the route I'm going.... check out the warranty and the specs.   http://www.wiegand-liners.com/toyota-engines.html

The new Mod motors are big very big I dont think it will ever fit in the Yota engine bay. I have built one Toy with a Chevy 400 small block and it was a tight fit and the 4.6 mod motors are alot wider than the Chevy. I am converting my new 85 Toy to a ford 302 because it fits alot better than the Chevy motors.

the modular fords are HUGE, if i'm not mistaken about the size of a 460 at least.  there's a comparison shot floating around, it dwarfs a 302.

i think a 302 would be a better swap...if you keep it mild toy axles might even survive under it

I have done a chevy 350 swap into my 85 toy, it was easy it just takes some time, and it depends on what you want for a tranny, auto? or stick?  im useing the stock 5 speed right now, but im going to put in a t-18 4 speed soon
