Anybody know the difference in length between the automatic used in an 86 4by versus the manual used in the same year?  If I convert to a newer tranny in place of my L43 I'm gonna hafta have the driveshafts lengthened/shortened, but I just remembered I have both drivelines from an automatic xcab, and it should have nearly the same wheelbase as my 80 longbed I believe, which would help make a cheaper conversion if they'll work,    Nate

I bought a marlin g54 for my 84 then blew the motor, I then bought an 83 and put that in it. I know have a better front driveline angle  and my shifters are in the same place because the extra length is from the shifter back. but you do have to move your crossmember back and shorten your driveline 5". I welded my mount on until I am done biulding the replacement. if the drivelines are 1 piece they will work but the 2 piece from my 84 wouldn't fit because the gas tank was in the way  :dunno:  that's all I went through, over all I realy like it  :twocents:  :turtle:
Sounds like more tree huggin hippie bull :pokinit:
