Will a front driveshaft off an 86 fit an 85 without modification to the flanges? :dunno:

I think the ifs driveshafts may be shorter, but I don't know for sure.   :headscratch:

Length doesn't really matter to me.  I was thinking of putting a CV driveshaft on the rear of my runner.

no problems. after 83 or 84 :headscratch:  the truck got the 10mm bolt hole and pattern. instead of the earlier 8mm

Even if the patterns are different you can still use it.  Just spin it half way between the holes, mark and drill new holes and you're done.  I put an 86 third in my 80 and the patterns are different, called up a friend that owns an axle shop and he said that's what he does, and he wheels a lot harder than I do.    Nate

An IFS Front drivline will not work with an 85 if you are putting it in the front. The IFS one is roughly 2 inches longer. I got one from my friend for $40 and it does not work. There is this website http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/cvmod/ and you can make them work but that is modifying them.
