Mollydawg

Just a note to introduce myself;  I'm MikeD, 63 yrs old, just a hell of a nice guy, and fond of the Yota's. Have a buddy (that is - had - as he passed away a while back) with a '73 Land Cruiser, and another buddy with a '71 4x4 pickup and I purchased a new 1996 Tacoma regular cab, 4x4, 3RZ, 5-spd, and now have 314,000 on the original drivetrain/engine.  It's not raced, in fact, its not even driven over 3000 rpm - ever, but it does see duty in the Utah canyonlands, and has been a reliable truck.  It's getting a bit tired now (like me) so I'm interested in keeping it and doing some restoration work, as well as modifications to make it a bit more friendly on interstates going thru high elevations. So my needs are probably quite different than anyone else.  I'm looking for a low rpm engine that has the ability to maintain 65-70 going thru Colorado's I-70, with a fairly heavy loaded truck.  I know - not an easy task, and maybe not possible. I've had some recommendations from L.C. Engineering so I'll be posting some questions, and hopefully you folks can provide some guidance. Hope to meet some of you online soon!

:welcome: from Arkansas :gap:

the 3RZ is the best possible engine for what you want but if you have larger than stock tires you need to match the gear ratio's in the differentials to compensate.
