Yes it would. I've done it before using a push button switch, turn your ignition on...push button start. Easy to hide too!

He probably thought you were going have it hooked up to your starter...therefore the starter would stay engaged until switched to "OFF" position.

Happened to a friend (relay crapped out) and he took out a family because he couldnt stop in time. Luckily nobody was seriously hurt.There is a reason that you can not but an alarm anymore with IGNITION KILL. Its all starter kill now."
