If you want to attach pics click on the additional options button at the bottom of the text box when you reply to a post, there should be something that says attach and you can find the pictures on your computer.

I finally got the content management system that powers our store website upgraded to the latest and greatest version. It has really opened the doors to a ton of useful additions that I'll be rolling out over the next few months. (have you seen how cool it is to add products to your shopping cart now? :psss: ) It also has much improved caching and I've down a lot of tweaking with our SQL server for a lot of speed improvements. I can tell a speed difference on the store site for sure!

As for the forum, I also plan on upgrading it to the 2.x branch sometime this spring. It will finally be cacheable (huge performance increase) and I'll be able to use a search engine (one that works!) located outside of the SQL database (no more waiting for table locks!) which is waaaay over due. I also plan on incorporating a super fast Ajax-powered shout box further reducing server load and improving user experience. :yesnod: (the current shout box is the largest resource hog on our server!!)

As for what happened yesterday......... ohhh man what a mess! Our harddrive on our machine (located in Fremont California) died early Mon morning! Fortunately the highly trained monkeys were able to retrieve the data and get everything back up. (Liroy I'll get that Pizza and beer to you one way or another!!! :beerchug: :beerchug:) The good news is that they built us a completely new machine, new mainboard, new harddrive (of course), and new network card, and also doubled the RAM on the machine which is AWESOME!

I am really hoping that that harddrive has been on the out for a while; hoping that explains why out site is down more often than I'd like. But anyway, got the store and forum running early this morning and I am in the process of trying to get our mail server back online (been down all day!). Gonna be a long night!!

Regards,
BigMike

All orders should be intact. Do you recall when it was you placed the order? Did you place it around 11p-12a PST on Jan 2nd?

Will our past orders be restored? Or are they gone forever?

This I was unfamiliar with. I will look into where the orders are. Everything should have been transferred over without a glitch, it was an automatic process with a single mouse click. Give me a day to look into it.

Thanks,
Mike

Yeah I used to be able to go in and review all of my orders I had made under my account in the past. I know it is not even close to all of my orders made, but it was nice to be able to go back and review the old orders.

BigMike

There is no setting to limit the number of order history items so something must be borked. And just to verify, the lost order history was noticed sometime after Jan 1st, correct?

noticed my order was gone sometime after the mentioned site upgrades. it wouldn't be such an issue for me if i knew the status of my order, but it was still pending so i'm curious since it has been at least two weeks. i sent a message to customer service a couple days ago along with my order number but haven't heard anything yet.

Yes, it was after. I checked on an order I made around Christmas time before the new year. After the new year, I checked on it again to see where the backordered parts of it were, but the order history was gone. I got the backordered parts a couple days ago, and I tried checking it again after I got them. The history was gone.

BigMike

Okay thank you for the info guys, I will look into this in the morning  I have the old database, I just need to learn how to import the data properly :gap:

BigMike: SMF 2.0 RC4 If you want to take a look. It's nice. The only down side is i can't find any good shoutbox's. Super easy to manage. Way better then SMF 1.X

Can't find any good shoutboxes for the SMF 2.x branch? Have you checked their mod registry? I've been playing with 2.x since RC1 :) I already have the next-generation MCI forum (700+ MB database!! :o) running 2.0 RC4 with its clean WYSIWYG editor running locally on my XAMPP server with a super fast AJAX-powered Shout! box (gonna help our server out a ton!). Also I have a personal forum, now about a year old & also running RC4, that I used to configure and test the ultra fast Sphinx Search engine -- I can't bloody wait to get our search working here again!! [BTW this is why I've never bothered with the current engine here, because I already have a much better Apache-version (not MySQL-powered) operating on SMF 2.x]

2.x handles caching much better and includes support for XCache right out of the box (this forum is currently using the APC accelerator configured through DSO PHP5 (better performance than suPHP + memcache in my opinion). I am just doing some more theme tweaking before I release it.... hopefully next week! :psss: As for why continue with SMF? Well I like open source and have always liked the development team for SMF (formerly YaBBSE, formerly YaBB (Perl/CGI) -- the first forum I ever used back in 2003!) I think they first released RC1 back in 2008 or something. Man it's taking them forever to release it so it's not like I'm way behind with our forum either LOL :ha_ha:

I've wanted to get our Drupal upgraded (from 5.x to 6.x) for the looooooooongest time as well as our SMF, but I figured I would wait until I graduated to get it all done. Now that I'm done with college, I am, for the first time in my life, now able to apply my talents on a full-time schedule. It took about a week to make the jump to the 6.x branch (including dealing with the recent holidays), something I wanted to get done last spring but never could! :thud:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh it is so nice to have free time for this stuff!! It's so much fun!

What is your degree in? From where?

I have played with a few of the Ajax powered shout boxes but really didn't like most of them. Another problem is alot of them haven't updated to RC4 yet. I have gotten a fre RC3 programs to run but they can be glitchy.

That site also uses WYSIWYG. Super clean.

Yeah SMF 2.x has several DB backends you can use, SQlite, MySql and BerklyDB. That sight is super small and I just use mysql.

Opensource is the way to go! I am real big into Linux, http://cross-lfs.org/ http://cblfs.cross-lfs.org/index.php/Main_Page

Drupal is a really strong software suite.

Woah what the heck, it loads perfectly fine on my IE6, Chrome 7, Ff3 & Ff4beta.

Can you check it again? I know I was playing around with header compression and buffering earlier, around 6 or 6:30p PST, that might have broke the site. Please check it again. Thanks!

I have been learning more and more about *nix, especially over the last 5 or 6 months. I originally was studying computer science and took some programming classes including Java, Q-, P-, and Visual-BASIC, Perl, CGI and Advanced C++. Before college I taught myself HTML and javascript so I've learned how to pick up code quickly on my own by reading through source files. Recently I've been learning PHP and SQL. I have some friends who are into Python but I've never looked into it.
