Im pretty much done with the front axle.  Just need to clean the housing and third.  If my truck doesn't sell they might just go on it.

I got the rear axle clearanced.  I cut the bottom off and plated it, welded it inside and out.  Did that faster then the front, only took me 2 days!(at ashool)   I still need to plate the back of the diff and grind it all down, then put in the new fill plug up top.  Hopefully they will be leakproof!   :crossed:

Hyena

Everything is done except for grinding.  I need to grind down everything.  I cut the shock mounts off, they were welded on crappy by who ever had the axle.  I need to fill in some divits i made with thr torche.  I somehow managed to break a bolt in one of the bottom holes.  It wouldn't turn anymore and it wouldn't come out, so i used force and it just broke.  We drilled it out and tapped it, and it seems to work now.  Im thinking these are gonna go on my truck, cuzz i can't get what i want for it.  I am going to keep my 5.29's and detriot.  but the detriot will go infront, im gonna weld the rear.  And i will hopefully have longfields by then.

Hyena

rear housing done.  the red is paint from my bed, not rust.

Hyena

more.  Drain plug moved to top for new fill plug.

Hyena

last one.  The inside.  Then the two axles together.  Front housing is right side up, rear housing is upside down.

Hyena

I just need to get some longs, new U-Bolt flip, and then we can put them under my toy.

Hyena

They must suck badly if no one is replying.   ???

i got some axle housings today at the local pick n pull. anything you recommend for i start hackin away at em?   Im gonna be using a plasma cutter to cut the axles up... What would make this easier for me since you already did it brad?
ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

Jared:    If you have an extra 3rd   lying around it would be a good idea to bolt-it-up the housing when you start doing your final welds, so that housing does not warp from the heat.

I bolted a junk thirdmember up when i did the fianl welds on mine.  It didn't bend, so you should do that.  The main part that i am worried about is it leaking.  Just try to make the welds good so they don't leak.  I haven't tested them out yet for leaks, i am just gonna put them under and hope for the best.
