i have F150 springs and the shackles but the bushings are toast and i can't find a place that crays them. So i was thinking i was going to have to make some shackles

I used the stock F150 shackle as the double and a 6" as my leaf shackle. It works pretty good. I think you can use the Chevy shackles the same way. Only company I know of that sold a double shackle was Downey.

thats basically how i did mine but i cut the top off of a pair of motor mounts and welded them to the bottom of the frame so it didnt make a clanking sound

I used a stock 4WD chevy shackle, and a 6" shackle to make mine. IFS bumpstop for a smooth ride and no banging.

i've been running dual shackles and 63's on my truck for years.  was a daily driver up til about 2 years ago.  never had any problems with the shackles "unloading".  its not unstable at all.  its actually very stable with or withough a loaded down bed.  thanks for posting up a pick of my truck jrock. driven lots of trails, up hill, down hill to the point where i was dragging the front bumper it was so steep and never had any problems with it.  know lots of people who run them on dd's and never heard anyone say the "unload" or be "unstable".  just my  :twocents:.

let me know if you want any other close up pics.  jrock got some good ones.  i actually have mine set up the opposite way, with my 6in shackle up against the frame, and the stock chevy shackle hanging.  moved my rear axle back a bit further so thats why i ran it that way. they work great both ways.

Never had any problems? I've known a few people that have had them seperate when you least want them too... maybe they didnt have them tight enough? how tight do you have your shackle mating bolt????

they are tight.  not so tight to where they are not able to rotate, but tight to where they don't have slop.  i also used lock tight on the nuts to make sure they didn't back off for that exact reason.  they havn't ever come loose.  the only problem i have ever had with mine was when i lost a bump stop on one side.  i could here the shackle rattleing on the frame like glenn said earlier.  but that was it.  great setup.

same here, i originally only did dual shackle cause I was lazy, but it has been working fine for me. I dont even have bumstops that stop it on the frame, and it doesnt make any noise? Also, I have dragged the nose of the truck down stuff, with no unloading at all.

the tera flex ones are sketchy..they unload when u jump speed bumps and lift up when u hit corners hard.kinda sketch..but going that fast is sketch too..so i guess it goes hand in hand

The only time i hear mine, is when i'm hitting bumps, big bumps, really fast one after another.  then i start hearing the shackel on the frame moving around.  besides that, i don't here it.

I believe the Tera-Flex would do that. They have a rotational piece in them that lets them flex out much easier, so, they droop out easier. I can't comment on the jumping  :sheerterror:

I've had my double shackles on my DD for 2 years and NEVER had any unloading/separating/problems with them. I have wheeled the snot out of them. The only problem I ever had with mine was when i was on my side in a canyon in Hollister and I tried to highlift myself level. The driver rear tire was rubbing on the side of the canyon wall and it was holding my tire down. I maxed out my 60" highlift and my tire never left where it was. Failed! Like I said, only problem I have ever had :)
