my buddy has a sami with a stock motor and 6.5 t case gears and 33 inch tires. he was wondering what gears to run in the Toyota axles.

fade

5.29s, or 4.88s. All depends on what he is doing with it?

my buddies on 33's same drop in case. stock toys with 4.10 thirds.... his R's run high on the road... but hes got a lots o accel lol....

unless you dont go over 65 for long times (speed limit here is 55) i wouldn't go any lower... if off-road the lower the better, for crawling at least

i was thinking he would have to run in low all the time because he wouldn't have the power in high.

Slolyfe

I'd go 4.88's unless he plans on going bigger tires in the future.

samurai  tcase gears have high and low reduction  ..so 4.10 would be best for street driven /off road on 33s

hi on lux

toy rear axles have a centered diff location, while sammy's rear axles are offset to the right...... will this not matter? vibrations?

yota4x4sc

it kinda does and kinda doesent.. 2 of my buddys run the centered diffs.. they have no problems.. they run toyota drive lines on both of them.. tg makes a off set rear axle houseing that is pretty cool check it out if ur down to spend a lil  :twocents:

joblo

with the toy rear we had to make sure we had the pinion set DEAD on to eliminate vibrations... expecially with the soft springs....

rock rat makes some nice adaptors for the drivelines on the t-case side, or to go to stock shafts

do NOT run a cv type drive shaft it will vibrate
std drive shaft and flange faces parallel

a quick Google search

so with a off set t-case and centered diff you can no point the diff at the transfer case output
(angle both ways)

thanks

If it is going to be street driven at all stay with the stock 4.10 gears. Sami case has reduction in high as well as low. With the 6.5 tranfer case gears and stock Zuki gears (3.73) it is right for 31's. I ran mine like this as a daily driver for a few years.

Ill work on some of the other photos when I get home. Im on the road traveling at the moment.

If he is sticking with 33's/35's you can get away with 4.56's or if he wants to crawl more go 4.88s.  But if he has any slight thought in his mind that he might go bigger tires later I would go 5.29's.

Think about it though.. we all always want to go bigger, that's why he's going yotas in the first place. Just something to think about. :twocents:
