r151 shifter modification
« on: Nov 15, 2010, 09:26:31 PM »
im puttin a r151 in my 86 runner. as some may know the shifter for the tranny is about two inches farther forward than the w56 shifter, because of the forward shifting t case. This shifter wont work for me because i have a flatbelly,  the w56 shifter was close but i know the r 151 shifter willl be jammed into the radio area . does anyone have any experince modifying/offsetting the r151 shifter back ? seems like it might be kinda easy modify but idont wanna screw it up.

Shouldn't have any issue.  My 87 has the R151 tranny, and zero issues.   Here is a photo of mine.
