Can you change from the smaller 22RE flywheel to the 22RET flywheel if you change out the clutch plate at the same time?

Absolutely. The Turbo flywheel & clutch setup and its 1993-95 late model cousin will fit in any 1979-92 20R or 22R or 22R-E manual transmission setup including even the L43. The only non compatible part would be the 1979-80 20R direct drive starter. So if you have a 1979 or 1980 20R, then you'll need to run the 1981-95 22R(-E/-TE) style starter with the larger clutch setup.
