Topic: '89 4runner-Tranny fluid oozing out of shifter hole - top shift W56

No recent work done. Doesn't seem to be overfilled. Shifts great. Rubber oil sling gasket is still intact. Only seems to happen at elevation. I live at 4000ft and travel to about 7000ft for work. watch it pour out the shifter hole at approximately the same place on my route every morning. I installed a vent in the shift plate but didn't seem to make a difference.


Just looking for thoughts on possible causes.

un do the 4 blots throw down some ultra gray silicone and inspect shifter base

Since this has been happening I installed the the two shifter bushings from Marlin. Made a huge difference in shifting but no affect on the oozing. The eruption of fluid isn't coming from the under the plate with the four bolts but up through the the hole in the plate where the shift lever enters.

Do you have this plate in between the shifter plate and the tranny case? It is upside down in this picture.
