brakelines for rear axle
« on: Dec 30, 2004, 10:09:36 AM »
I have a wide rear axle from an unknown year Toyota truck and I was going to replace the metal brakelines before I put It under my truck (84' XTRA Cab) since they are fairly cheap ($13.00-$20.00) from the dealership, I also need a P/N for the rear section of the parking brake cable since mine will be too short now,(I assume a cable from an 87' XTRA Cab would work since they came with the wide axle) but I went to the local dealership and they said they need to know the production date of the truck. Can anyone help? All I know about the axle Is It Is a wide one and the truck had a V6 because It has a V6 third and It does not have the hole for the ABS sensor. Thanks In advance. Worley

You could probably give them just about any production date for a wide V6 rear. I'm not positve, but I think they are all basically the same. Your other option is to  make a small extension for the cable. I used a piece of flat bar and used a nut and bolt on the lever, and the factory pin where the cable attaches.

Yeah that's what I thought but I went In there and he said he needed the prod. date for the truck and I have no idea. Whoever had the axle before I did made brakelines for the axle and each side Is 15" too long with big loops on each side just kinda looks like crap and the factory bent lines are pretty cheap If I can get the right part #'s. I thought about doing your Idea on the e brake cable though! Thanks for your help maybe Chris or Marlin will chime In! I bet either one of them knows the Toy part #'s off the top of their head

Just tell them 6/87 or 7/87 or 8/87 or 9/87 etc.  It doesn't really matter.
