1987 Toyota 4Runner SR5
Daily Driver/ Sierra Nevada Family Assault Vehicle
Family friendly build, seats 7  (2-3-2)

The Essential Hardware
Passes smog and street legal
Marlin Dual Ultimate Crawler with 4.7 gear
Front High Pinion Toyota E-locker, 4:88(w/motor skid),  Longfeild 27 spline w/chromo inners
Rear Toyota E-locker, 4:88(w/motor skid)
Warn 8274 w/100? of  3/16? Amsteel Blue rope
37 x 12.50 x 15 Goodyear MTR with spare, 2.5? backspaced steel spoke rims

I built this 4Runner to take me and my family (6 of us) to, over, through and home from the harder trails in the western U.S.   It is built with a large enough tire size, yet with as little lift as possible to keep the CG low. The truck is very flexy and gets lots of traction. I have been slowly improving on it for the last 10 years and it has a mix of some old school and some newer parts.

Hollister Hills SVRA, Mini Rubicon

Hollister Hills SVRA, full of kids

Using 3rd row seat in Calico, doors off, with safari top to shade the kids.

Family Friendly Features (call the wife)
Seating for 7 from adding a new rear jeep seat and 2 seat belts.
Full exocage from 1.5? HREW tube
A/C and heat still works!
Extra wide sliders w/diamond plate so the wife and little ones have sure footing
Good to fair interior
Carpet delete with rubber floor mats
Old school Kayline soft top gives convertible and safari top options
Stock Toyota AM/FM cassette still works

2nd and 3rd row seats

Mechanical Details
All Pro straight axle swap w/1984 Toyota axle. AP high steer with Trail Gear Magnum studs
Trail Gear 4? hybrid front springs
Front square tube drive shaft is indestructible
Stainless braided brake lines

Rear 63? Chevy springs
Rear CV driveshaft is fully balanced

ECM relocated to glove box
Motor mounts chained

You could easily modify this rig to suit your 4wheeling/daily driver needs.
For example, if you arent into the harder trails, you could easily cut off the exo and run it this way....

Other Details
Stock motor, in frame rebuild at 220,xxx w/ new head.
Stock  5speed  trans
99% straight body
Quick release doors
CB with flex antennae
Gutted tailgate and side compartments for storage
Aftermarket headlights with H4 bulbs

Why I am selling it
I will be attending nursing school for the next 3 years which will leave me absolutely zero 4wheeling time. The last thing I want to do is watch the mice and the sun eat this truck as it sits in my yard over the next several years.

My driving style is to get through the trail with as little damage as possible, which shows on this rig. It has seen some good trail and street use, but never abused.
I have receipts for some of the above listed mods.
I am 30 minutes north of Fresno, CA
I will not be parting out, or trading this 4Runner, don't ask.
$6500 OBO

Josh, thanks for the reply.
The enginge is stock, which is why I didn't post much about it. Just another 22RE that gets the job done. It currently has 245,xxx miles on it. It had a professional in frame overhaul at 220,xxx, several years ago. I have the receipts for this.

Here is a pic of the 3rd row seat. A rear jeep seat that I bought new from 4WP.

A front shot with the 2 GM seat belts from a Suburban

The tailgate down and the 3rd row seat

The gutted tailgate where I store tow straps, TP, etc....

Camo colors available at Homedepot.
1. Paint entire rig olive drab.
2. Pick out your favorite leaves and branches (cedar, oak, manzanita, and ponderosa pine are on my property).
3. place branch against rig
4. spray a different camo color over branch
5. pull branch away and enjoy your handywork
