:tantrum: My 94 the IFS manual hubs are hard to lock and unlock  This is out of gear w/parking brake on.. I was thinking about taking em' apart :_order: cleaning them regreasing everything and putting it back together. I think that would help...any input would help....Thanx

You got it man.  I'm not saying there's not a real problem, but they're a pretty simple design, and so easy to take off that it's stupid not to do so every now and then just to check em.  I had a seal leaking on one side and that hub turned easier than the other side, I took off the other side, cleaned and lubed it and it worked much smoother.   Nate

Make sure not to pack them full of grease.  I've been told that if there is too much grease in there, it can prevent them from locking.

make sure the spring is attached to the switch side of the hub correctly, if you have to much grease in there and you try to pull the hub apart it can pull the spring out making it difficult to turn when you put it back together if you didn't put the spring back.
Sounds like more tree huggin hippie bull :pokinit:

yup you answered your own question, and dont pack them full of grease as stated above but do grease everything liberally.

Just don't be to quick to dip them in parts cleaner, like brake/carb cleaner, if you were going to do this/have access to this. There is a rubber seal that needs to be removed or you will damage it.

Also, when you pull the center out, be very careful because there is a extremely small detent ball and spring in there, don't loose them.
