hello all, greetings from alamosa, co, i have a 83 toyota truck, 6" lift 33's 4:88 ez lockers front and rear, birdfeilds, 5:1 xfer with a later 22efi pushing it...like most of you, EVERYTHING has been touched or modified to some extent, I WAS trying to keep it simple but i keep adding on! currently i just lost 5th gear and the beast did got me home but now its jamming and clicking so its time to beef it up better, it has a L52 trans, and i was thinking of rebuilding it till i saw marlins sweat beefed up L52 trans, now i am wondering if i ought to get it or get a later trans and do the driveline build and the relocate of the trans support..i did the xfer last year to 5:1 sooo i am leaning towards the niiiice built L52! whatchya all think? btw, can a lower first gear be put in the L52??

ive had my L52HD for several years and love it. it allows me to run dual cases without having to run a cv on my rear shaft.  basically the same as running a later model transmission and a single tcase.

no, the L52 cant be made with a deeper 1st gear, it does have the 3.93:1 1st that almost all the newer transmissions do.

well, i did it again, put another paycheck in the beast, i ordered the l52hd, a new xfer mount, a gasket an' a couple cool stickers, i cant wait to wheel again!
