I'm a noob here and I've finally decided after three years it was time to start building my 87 yota up. I am starting with an SAS. I am new at all this so I will be asking lots of stupid noob questions as I build the truck. The first being I have found someone with front and rear straight axles gear matched 4.10s and wants $250 for both. Being new I dont know if its a good deal or not. Anyone have any input TIA...

4.10 is the base aka stock gearing for almost all yota trucks

what year is this truck and is it a 5spd or auto, 4 or 6 cyl,  and what do you plan on doing with it??

That would probably be helpful. 87 4cyl 5spd man ifs 4.10. Its a learning project so it will probably go through many stages. For now I want something all around capable and be able to do some mild crawling.

dont worry about doing a SAS right away, i would look into a mild lift, maybe a 2 inch body lift and get some 33's and some differential gearing./  4.88 gears are good for a 33 inch tire.

a rear locker and some body armor would make it a capable rig for sure.

run that IFS till it falls off (the ifs will take a lot of abuse)

Yea I figured I would run the IFS for a little while... I thought if that was a good price on some axles I could get them and put different gears in them while I am getting everything in line for the swap get some other stuff done to the truck.

Well my "smoking deal" might have to wait. I was taking off the tranny to do the clutch and when I pulled the sticks for the tranny and transfer case realized the rubber seats for them had disintegrated... Can I just flush that crap out of the t case???
