I thought the common problem was it doesn't fully retract and it hangs outside when you close the door when leaving your truck..............

most cars have a lockup mechanism on both drivers and passengers seatbelts.....

think of it this way, if the car gets into an accident, you want to hold the body into the seat, instead of letting it fling forward into the dash..... also, on airbag equipped vehicles, it would be a bad idea to let your face get that close to the explosive charge of the airbag popper and then the bag would deploy into your face instead of letting your face hit an inflated bag

Sounds like you helped decide that yourself.

I wear a lap belt only most of the time on the trail until I get into some heavy stuff, then I wear both.

Example:

David & Theresa Fritzsche, 1990 Ex-Cab with a few mods!!!!!!!!! Roseville, CA Sobriety =Serenity

i cleaned my seatbelts in straight purple degreaser after taking the top bolt off and using a vice grip to hold it unspooled. i then rinsed it in a couple clean buckets of water and let it dry.  works like new now.

yeah... thats how it should work, but mine locks up way too fast! it's like it thinks we're always in a car crash...

it's not a real problem, but it is annoying! Every time i get in the car it's a good half minutes struggle to get the seat belt on...   :tantrum:

i'm gonna try that!
