DOes anyone know the part number for the snap ring that sits against the bearing on the input shaft for the rf1a t-case? I can't figure it out and the local toyota dealership has no clue.

Google Toyota Parts Zone.

Type in your VIN, go to powertrain/chassis section and look under transfer gear. I found a few matching your description but I didn't see a pic to verify it's the one you need.

Maybe go to a local trans part supply.

I have a parts T-case. I'll send you one if you absolutly can't find one.

k. Thanks. MY problem is I don't know the vin for the truck that it came from. I am in the process of putting in a 23 spline input gear. I put the snap ring from the 21 spline on a micrometer and it gave a reading of 8/1000 thick. Am I kinda screwed without the vin in finding the right snapring. NAPA and autozone had nothing similiar.

I just looked at my T-cases apart on my workbench. The snap ring is the same for the 21 and 23 spline.

I thought they would be different but the only difference is the neck and splines of the input shaft. The rest of the shaft and even the bearing are the same.

I physically put the ring on both. Fit perfect. Here's a couple pics of a 21 and 23 spline side by side.

Thanks for looking into that for me. I find it incredible that you can solve the problem in a couple days but toyota techs and part guys look at me like I'm speaking a different language. I just ended up using the same snapring that I pulled off the 21 spline. I just hope that it hasn't been weekend though.
